A fairly frequent ailment are soft lumps in the lower (rarely upper) lip or buccal mucosa, which are formed after accidental bite, even from many years before. These lumps are pathological empty sacs filled with fluid, called cysts. Growing cysts in soft tissue may lead to the aesthetic disorders. They require surgical removal. The procedure is short, it is performed under local anaesthesia and ends with putting on several sutures.
The material is often sent for histopathological evaluation in order to rule out cancerous lesions.
