The Villa Nova Dental Clinic guarantees the supreme level of all its services, beginning from reliable and certain diagnostics, which is the foundation for all further therapeutic activities. Our Clinic includes an X-ray laboratory equipped with first-class and the latest-generation X-ray devices, which enables the imaging results to be obtained immediately, with the full safety of the patient ensured.
Thanks to the application of the most recent software, CDR DICOM, for digital X-ray imaging (a picture of the structure examined is seen on a computer screen rather than on X-ray film), the following features are available:
- a very detailed analysis of the structure examined, in particular thanks to the possibility of presenting a coloured image, which helps in the detection of any abnormalities;
- high-quality digital processing of the image presented on the computer screen, i.e. zooming in an whole image or a portion of it, measuring the distance between selected points and measuring the optical density of tissues;
- immediate result of X-ray imaging thanks to the elimination of the X-ray film development process;
- as much as 6-9-fold reduction in the radiation dose compared to conventional X-ray, which is of particular importance in those dental specialities that require repeated X-ray examinations, such as endodontics or implantology;
- data collection and storage, and their review, when needed.
Moreover, our Planmeca panoramic X-ray apparatus with cephalometric attachment allows high-quality panoramic conventional X-ray to be taken, as well as X-rays of the maxillary sinuses and temporomandibular joints and teleradiographic X-rays that are essential in orthodontics. With the use of high-quality films, we may guarantee that conventional X-rays will be ready 10-15 minutes after they are taken.
DIGITAL TOOTH X-RAYS IN ALL PROJECTIONS
This type of X-ray is in fact necessary in all dental specialities, from the detection of carious lesions in conservative dentistry to the assessment of the degree of implant osteo-integration. Tooth X-rays provide the most information on the condition of individual teeth and features the highest accuracy in the imaging of details.

PANORAMIC X-RAYS
The panoramic technique allows the simultaneous imaging of the whole dentition, jaw bones and adjacent structures on one image, at the radiation dose equivalent to 4-5 tooth X-rays. Despite the lower accuracy of these tooth X-rays, panoramic views allow a general assessment of the condition of all the teeth to be made, which explains their great usefulness in the diagnostic process, planning of the treatment and assessment of results. The advantages of panoramic X-rays also include the lack of discomfort to the patient, the possibility of examining a patient unable to open his or her mouth, and the fact that the image obtained is clear and understandable for the patient. Currently panoramic X-rays are routinely taken as an initial examination before dental treatment.
TELERADIOGRAPHY
Teleradiography involves taking remote X-rays, where an X-ray tube is positioned at a significant distance (usually 2 metres) from the patient's head, and these are particularly useful in orthodontic diagnostics. Detailed analysis of the X-rays allows the assessment of spatial relationships of teeth and jaws to be made, and other structures of the patient's skull, and is essential for the appropriate detection of occlusion (bite) abnormalities and planning of the treatment. A comparison of examinations taken before and after the treatment allows a precise assessment of the results of the treatment to be made.
X-RAYS OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINTS
X-ray imaging of the temporomandibular joints is of inestimable assistance in the diagnosis of conditions of these structures. It provides an additional examination in dental surgery, prosthetics and orthodontics, as each of these specialities deals with diseases of the temporomandibular joints, although from a different perspective. Symptoms of pathologies concerning these joints are commonly discreet and non-specific, and X-ray imaging may provide considerable information on the cause, localisation and nature of the abnormality.
X-RAYS OF MAXILLARY SINUSES
An X-ray image of the maxillary sinuses allows not only the diagnosis of abnormalities concerning the sinuses themselves, but also the elimination one of the causes of pain, i.e. inflammation of the maxillary sinuses.
